This is a website created by Ben Benjamin in 1997. It features a labyrinth of art-filled pages, links, and text. It is fun to get lost on this site.
Last updated in 2005, this website provides links on "Advanced Internet searching strategies & advices". Delves into information about the deep web and how to find any information that exists on the internet.
This is the mirror site for the TSUKI Project (As of January 17 2019, the main site, https://systemspace.link, is currently under maintenance and only shows a warning page that discourages people from committing suicide).
The TSUKI Project appears to be an ARG (Augmented Reality Game). The site claims that life is a simulation that is about to be shut down. In order to survive the termination, users are encouraged to register so that their soul can be transferred to the new simulation, Life 2.0. Some people have described the project as a suicide cult. The TSUKI Project rejects this claim and discourages people from killing themselves.
In case the format style didn't tip you off, this web forum has been around for a while. This is a website designed to allow users to share mysterious stories. The website still has an active community. Those who miss the old-school forum layouts of the 90s may wish to visit this site.
Another retro website. This one is dedicated to the nerdy hatred of IE.
Welcome to Zombo.Com. This is zombo.com. Welcome. This is zombo.com. welcome to zombo.com. You can do anything at zombo.com. Anything at all. The only limit is yourself. Welcome to zombo.com. Welcome to zombo.com. This is zombo.com....
InGen is the fictional research company from Jurassic Park. Being a fictional organization doesn't stop you from having your own website apparently.
If you are into old websites, it doesn't get any more retro than this. This is the first html page in history, created by Tim Berners-Lee himself. It provides information about the world wide web project.
Similar to superbad.com, this website is a repository of html-based web art.
An archive of images and text from the old internet.
A mysterious website created by someone who really likes his/her cocaine. If you scroll past the wall of SQL error messages, you will encounter a page of cocaine-related posts.
There seems to be a way to create an account on the site, but it requires you to solve an image CAPTCHA. The image links to an SQL error message, which seems to suggest that you need to use SQL-injection to create the account. I don't care enough to figure this out but you can have a go if you are savvy enough.
Outlines 9 principles of good web design.
The first band to broadcast live on the internet in 1993. You can still listen and download their music on this site.
STD is a rock band formed by a group of tech nerds working at Palo Alto, CA.
A website that will take you to a random useless website. Great time waster.
A compilation of old GeoCities pages.
"GeoCities was a web-hosting service that made it possible for people to build their own home pages. During the 90s, users from all over the world created personalized corners of the Internet.
By the time the U.S. service shut down in October 2009, there were over 38 million GeoCities pages. Cameron’s World brings together archived material from thousands and thousands of these sites."
I first came across this website because links to it were spammed throughout my college's email system. What I found was an eerie collage of incoherent ramblings and images. I became fascinated by the site because it felt like looking into the mind of a madman. Talk of Revelations, politics, timelines, and time travel, makes it hard to be sure where this author is coming from.
File this site under "WTF!".
(ones ones and ones zeros?) Another labyrinth of web art. This one looks like it is Spanish-language based. This website uses a lot of Flash animation, so it is recommended that you have Adobe Flash enabled to fully appreciate the artwork on this site.
A website that hosts new DOS games. There is still a community of game makers designing new games for an old platform.
A huge collection of old text files.
An odd collection of web pages featuring some of the most iconic memes ever produced by 4chan.
